The RENISHAW A-5003-0067 is a CMM ball stylus designed for coordinate measuring machine applications requiring precise surface contact measurement. Fitted with a 3 mm ruby ball and a ceramic stem, this stylus delivers dimensional stability and consistent probe repeatability across a wide range of inspection tasks. The M3 threaded shank connects to compatible CMM probe modules and extension systems. With an overall length of 50 mm and an effective working length of 43.70 mm, the A-5003-0067 is well suited for general-purpose feature measurement where moderate reach is needed without sacrificing rigidity. Metrology technicians and CMM operators install this stylus as part of a configured probe assembly.
This stylus is used in coordinate measuring machine setups across manufacturing inspection environments, both on the shop floor and in dedicated metrology labs. It is appropriate for measuring bores, slots, planes, and external features on machined parts. The ceramic stem minimizes thermal expansion effects during measurement cycles, supporting accuracy in temperature-variable environments. Applications include quality control in aerospace, automotive, and general precision machining operations. The ruby ball provides low wear and consistent contact characteristics across repeated measurement cycles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit stylus for CMM probe systems accepting M3 threaded styli.
CMM styli are installed and exchanged by metrology technicians or CMM operators. Before changing a stylus, bring the CMM to its rest or park position and follow the machine controller shutdown or probe-disable procedure to prevent unintended probe movement. Thread the M3 shank in by hand until seated, then snug gently - avoid using tools that could overtorque the thread or damage the ceramic stem. After installation, perform a full probe qualification or calibration routine on the CMM controller before resuming measurement programs.
