The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999156 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of metallic materials. Built from high speed steel with a steam oxide coating, it carries a wire gauge size of 35, equivalent to 0.1100 inches in decimal. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and requires less feed pressure than a standard 118-degree geometry. Overall length is 2.625 inches with a 1.5-inch spiral flute and a straight cylindrical shank. The web-thinned, tapered web design improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical tradespeople routinely use jobber-length bits for sheet metal, bracket, and conduit work.
This bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The 14xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to a maximum depth of 1.5 inches, which covers most trade-application through-hole and clearance-hole tasks in light structural and mechanical components. It is a right-hand cut, two-flute configuration intended for use in standard drill presses, hand drills, and driver equipment common on commercial and residential job sites. The Series R10B-R15B-R18B designation places it within a heavy-duty general-purpose family built to ANSI and NAS 907 standards.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard three-jaw chucks accepting a 0.1100-inch straight cylindrical shank. Rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium per NAS 907 material classification codes P, M, K, N, and S.
Install in a properly rated drill press or hand drill with a chuck capacity that accepts a 0.1100-inch shank; verify chuck jaws are clean and fully tightened before operation. Disconnect or de-energize any equipment being drilled into before making pilot or clearance holes. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to extend bit life and manage heat. Follow applicable ANSI and shop-safety standards for eye protection and workpiece securing.
