The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997095 is a taper length, straight-shank drill bit designed for general-purpose hole-making in a wide range of metals and non-ferrous materials. Ground from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it measures 0.1015 inches in diameter (Wire Size 38) with a parabolic flute and a 135-degree split point. The parabolic flute geometry promotes faster chip evacuation and reduced heat buildup during cutting. The split point is self-centering, eliminating the need for a center punch on most surfaces. Overall length is 4.625 inches with a 2.5-inch flute length.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in metal fabrication, industrial, and mechanical contracting environments. Its heavy-duty ANSI-grade construction makes it a reliable choice for drilling alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, copper, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, tempered steel, hardened steel, titanium, titanium alloy, and graphite. It is typically used in a drill press, hand drill, or CNC machine setup requiring a straight-shank bit in the 0.1015-inch diameter range.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stocking drill in any application requiring a straight-shank taper length bit at 0.1015 inches (Wire Size 38) per ANSI standards. Compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.1015-inch straight shank.
Install in a properly sized drill chuck and verify the shank is fully seated and secured before operation. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement during drilling. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and ANSI B11 machine tool safety guidelines when operating drill presses or CNC equipment. Do not exceed the recommended RPM range for the diameter and material being drilled to avoid premature tool wear or breakage.
