The OSG VGM6-0180 is a 6-flute square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with OSG EXO coating, this tool delivers extended wear resistance and thermal stability under aggressive cutting conditions. The 1-inch diameter pairs with a 3-inch length of cut and a 6-inch overall length, giving machinists the reach needed for deep-pocket and slotting work. The 37-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Variable index flute spacing minimizes chatter and improves surface finish. A straight cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard end mill holders and collet chucks.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills handling ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The regular-length geometry and non-centercutting design make it appropriate for peripheral milling, profiling, and full-depth slotting passes where a dedicated plunge tool is used for entry. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction conform to standard spindle rotation. The VGM6 series is targeted at production shops, tool rooms, and contract manufacturers requiring consistent performance across high-cycle programs.
Designed as a drop-in replacement-style end mill for CNC machining center spindles and manual mills accepting a 1-inch straight cylindrical shank in standard end mill holders or ER collet chucks.
End mills must be installed by a qualified machinist following shop tooling procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder and torque set screws or collet nuts to the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges and EXO coating for chips or damage before each use; do not run a damaged carbide tool.
