The OSG VGM5-0020 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. It features a 0.1563-inch cutting diameter, a 0.0100-inch corner radius, and five flutes with a high-helix, variable-index geometry that supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The EXO coating provides elevated heat and wear resistance, extending tool life when cutting ferrous and hard materials. This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and is installed by machinists and tooling professionals working in precision metalworking environments.
The VGM5-0020 is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its short-length configuration with a 15/64-inch length of cut and 2-inch overall length makes it well-matched for close-tolerance slotting, profiling, and contouring operations where rigidity and minimal deflection are critical. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard toolholders across common CNC setups.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 0.1563-inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Secure the shank in a compatible toolholder and verify runout before commencing any cut. Confirm spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut against the applicable material and toolpath strategy before engaging the workpiece. Do not exceed the rated length of cut of 15/64 inch to avoid deflection or tool failure.
