The OSG VG441-5010-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill from the Hy-Pro-Carb VGX series, engineered for demanding metal removal applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. It features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length. The four-flute design uses variable index (unequal flute spacing) to break up harmonic vibration during milling, reducing chatter and extending tool life. A TiAlN PVD coating adds heat resistance and wear protection. This tool is suited for both roughing and finishing operations and is installed by machinists and tooling professionals in CNC milling environments.
This end mill is designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium, covering workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S. The single-end, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute configuration makes it a standard choice for vertical and horizontal CNC milling centers. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive engagement and reduces slippage under heavy cuts. The 35-degree helix angle and medium helix style support efficient chip evacuation across a wide range of materials and cutting conditions.
Designed for use in CNC milling applications with workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium. Compatible with standard 1/2-inch diameter end mill toolholders accepting a Weldon flat shank. Part of the OSG VG441BN series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Confirm spindle is fully stopped and machine is powered down or in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully in the holder and torque the set screw against the flat per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating to ensure concentricity before beginning a cut.
