The OSG VG441-1009 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built on OSG's VG441 series platform, it features a 1-inch mill diameter, 4-inch length of cut, and 7-inch overall length with a matching 1-inch shank diameter. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers hardness and edge retention suited for high-speed and high-feed operations. A TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. With 4 flutes, a 35-degree helix angle, and variable index geometry, this end mill balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality. Installation and setup are handled by machinists and CNC programmers in job shop, production, and tool room environments.
The VG441-1009 is suited for full-depth slotting and peripheral milling in steels, stainless steels, and alloy materials. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole, adding flexibility for contouring and pocket milling operations. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC machining center spindles. This tool is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes in the 2-inch and greater length-of-cut range, making it a practical choice for deep-cavity work where rigidity is critical.
Designed for use in standard 1-inch-bore milling chucks, collet holders, and hydraulic toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills requiring a 1-inch shank. Part of the OSG VG441 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before loading or removing the tool. Verify toolholder bore cleanliness and runout before tightening to minimize deflection and premature edge wear. Confirm cutting parameters — speeds, feeds, and depth of cut — are appropriate for the workpiece material before beginning the operation.
