The OSG HP441-4331-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for demanding material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. Part of the OSG Hy-Pro-Carb HP441BN series, it features a 0.4331-inch (11 mm) cutting diameter, a 35-degree helix angle, and a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) PVD coating that supports elevated cutting speeds and extended tool life. The four-flute, right-hand helical geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining surface finish quality. This tool is built from submicron carbide grade stock, making it suitable for high-productivity applications where consistency across tool changes is critical.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers and milling machines in job shop, production, and die-mold environments. Its geometry and coating make it well suited for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard collet chucks or end mill holders. With a 0.9843-inch (25 mm) length of cut and 70 mm overall length, it handles moderate-depth pocketing, contouring, and profile milling without excessive overhang.
Rated for secondary workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO material classification. Part of the OSG HP441BN series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or drawbar is de-energized before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, particularly when machining hard or abrasive materials where edge integrity is critical.
