The OSG HP400-1181 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in demanding milling operations. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with TiAlN, it handles high-heat cutting conditions common in hardened steels, stainless, and alloy materials. The 3 mm cutting diameter pairs with a 6 mm shank, making it suited for close-tolerance work in die and mold, aerospace component machining, and general metalworking. With 4 right-hand spiral flutes and a centercutting design, it supports both plunge and peripheral cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tool in standard end mill holders or collet chucks.
The HP400-1181 is intended for precision milling applications where a small-diameter roughing tool is required. The 10 mm length of cut and 64 mm overall length make it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate depth passes in tight cavities or profiling operations. Its regular-length geometry fits standard CNC machining center setups. The right-hand cutting and flute direction are consistent with conventional milling machine spindle configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with ER collet chucks or end mill holders accepting a 6 mm shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is properly seated to the minimum recommended gauge length before torquing the holder. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when handling carbide cutting tools.
