The OSG HP255-3819 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance hole-making in ferrous materials. Built on the HP255 series platform, it features a 9.70 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree R-thinned point for improved self-centering and reduced thrust, and a WD1 coating that extends tool life in abrasive applications. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 10.00 mm in diameter for secure chuck engagement. With a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and coolant-through capability, this drill is suited to demanding production environments where tool life and hole quality are priorities. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators in job shops and manufacturing facilities are the primary users.
The HP255-3819 is designed for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. The regular spiral flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills. Coolant-through capability allows internal delivery of cutting fluid directly to the cutting edge, which is especially valuable when drilling deeper holes in cast iron or alloy steel where chip evacuation and heat management are critical. It is sold individually and packaged as a single unit.
Designed for use in steel (material code P) and cast iron (material code K) workpieces per ISO material classification. Suitable for blind hole, cross hole, and self-centering drilling applications on CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with coolant-through spindle capability.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the 10.00 mm shank diameter before beginning any operation. Carbide is brittle relative to high-speed steel — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without proper feed adjustments, or re-chucking a worn tool that may have runout. Always verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before production use, as excessive runout accelerates carbide edge chipping.
