The OSG HP255-2835 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It features a 7.20 mm (0.2835 inch) diameter, a 140-degree point angle with R-thinned web geometry, and a WD1 coating designed to extend tool life in demanding applications. The two-flute spiral design runs in a right-hand cutting direction with a regular spiral type, and the tapered web configuration supports chip evacuation in both through and blind hole work. Coolant-through capability makes this bit well suited for high-feed, high-speed programs on CNC machining centers and automated drilling equipment. Machinists and tooling specialists working in production environments are the primary users.
The HP255-2835 is rated for use in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron, covering ISO material codes P and K. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio gives it the reach needed for deeper holes while maintaining rigidity. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross-hole operations, standard drilling, and self-centering entry cuts. Verify collet or chuck runout before use, as excessive runout accelerates carbide wear and increases breakage risk. Coolant-through setups require confirmed coolant pressure and flow at the spindle before starting the cut. Do not use this bit as a hand-drill tool — it is intended for rigid, machine-held applications only.
