The OSG HP255-2638 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. Designed around a 6.7 mm (0.2638 inch) diameter with a 140-degree drill point angle, it uses an R-thinned point geometry for self-centering entry and reduced thrust load. The WD1 coating improves wear resistance and tool life in demanding applications. At 91 mm overall length with a 53 mm flute length, this bit falls in the standard jobber range. A straight-cylindrical 8 mm shank allows direct chuck mounting on common drilling equipment. It is sold individually and suited for production or maintenance environments where accuracy and tool longevity are required.
The HP255-2638 is built for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron in a range of operations including blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, standard through drilling, and self-centering applications. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation at moderate depths. Coolant-through capability makes it well suited for CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with through-spindle coolant delivery. It carries ISO material group codes P and K, covering carbon and alloy steels as well as gray and ductile cast irons.
Designed as a high-performance replacement drill bit for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and similar equipment capable of accepting an 8 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with ISO material group P (steel, alloy steel) and group K (cast iron) workpiece materials as indicated by the manufacturer.
Installation of this drill bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth before operation. Verify that coolant lines are properly connected when using through-spindle coolant to maximize tool life and chip evacuation.
