The OSG HP255-2205 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It features a 5.6 mm diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle with R-thinned web geometry, and a WD1 coating that extends tool life in demanding applications. The two-flute spiral design with a tapered web and regular spiral type promotes efficient chip evacuation. With an overall length of 82 mm and a flute length of 44 mm at a 5xD ratio, this bit is well suited for precision drilling in production and job-shop environments. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators working in metal fabrication and manufacturing.
This drill bit is engineered for use in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Its R-thinned point enables self-centering entry, making it effective for blind holes, cross holes, and through-hole drilling operations. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 6 mm diameter fits standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholders. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed machining cycles where internal coolant delivery is available, helping manage heat and chip load in deep or interrupted cuts.
Designed for use in steel (material code P) and cast iron (material code K) workpieces. Suitable for blind hole, cross hole, standard drilling, and self-centering applications in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses equipped with coolant-through toolholding systems.
This drill bit is installed by machinists in CNC machining centers or manual machine tools. Before mounting, confirm the spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris to ensure accurate runout. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully within the collet or drill chuck to the recommended engagement depth for the holder type in use. When using coolant-through capability, verify that the machine spindle and toolholder support internal coolant delivery before engaging the coolant system.
