The OSG HP255-2047 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It carries a 5.2 mm diameter, a 140-degree R-thinned point, and an overall length of 82 mm with a 44 mm flute length. The WD1 coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during extended production runs. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.0 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. A regular spiral flute with tapered web geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in blind-hole and through-hole applications. This bit is suited for machinists, tool-and-die shops, and maintenance technicians running CNC or manual drilling operations.
The HP255-2047 is designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. Its R-thinned point geometry supports self-centering entry and reduces thrust load, making it well suited for cross-hole, blind-hole, and general drilling operations. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides added depth capacity relative to its diameter. The right-hand cut configuration is compatible with standard spindle rotation on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, and cast iron (ISO material codes P and K). Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and similar equipment accepting a 6.0 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Tool application includes blind hole, cross hole, general drilling, and self-centering operations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tooling practices. Confirm the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing or seating the bit. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the collet or chuck is torqued to the equipment manufacturer's specification. Verify coolant-through lines are clear and pressurized before engaging high-speed cutting cycles.
