The OSG HP255-1929 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It measures 4.9 mm in diameter with an overall length of 82 mm and a flute length of 44 mm. The 140-degree point angle and R-thinned web geometry reduce thrust and improve self-centering on entry. WD1 coating extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks and collet holders. This bit is intended for professional machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and CNC operators working with steel, alloy steel, and cast iron.
The HP255-1929 is designed for blind hole drilling, cross-hole operations, and general drilling cycles in steel and cast iron workpieces. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes. Coolant-through capability makes it compatible with through-spindle coolant setups on machining centers and CNC drill presses. Its regular spiral flute geometry suits right-hand cutting in P- and K-class workpiece materials per ISO material classification. Typical applications include production drilling in job shops, maintenance facilities, and automated machining cells.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces classified under ISO material groups P and K. Compatible with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines equipped with through-spindle coolant and standard collet or drill chuck toolholding systems.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tool-crib personnel familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is isolated before loading or changing tooling. Carbide is brittle — avoid impact loading, interrupted cuts without proper feeds and speeds, and side loads that exceed the tool design. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and OSG recommendations for feed rate, spindle speed, and coolant flow for the specific workpiece material.
