The OSG HP255-1575 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and hard materials. It features a 4.00 mm (0.1575 inch) diameter, a 140-degree point angle with R-thinned web geometry, and a multi-layer EgiAs proprietary coating for extended tool life. The 2-flute regular spiral design promotes efficient chip evacuation in steel, cast iron, and hardened materials. At 74.00 mm (2.9134 inches) overall length with a 36.00 mm (1.4173 inch) flute length, it fits standard toolholders via its 6 mm straight cylindrical shank. Coolant-through capability makes it well suited to production drilling environments.
This drill bit is used in metalworking and machining applications where precision hole-making in steel, cast iron, and hardened materials is required. Its self-centering point and R-thinned web support blind hole, cross-hole, and through-hole drilling operations. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio suits general jobber-length applications on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where consistent diameter tolerance of plus 0.004 to plus 0.016 mm is critical. It is appropriate for both job shop and production environments handling ISO P and K material groups.
The HP255-1575 is part of the OSG HP255 series and is designed for use in steel (ISO P), cast iron (ISO K), and hardened materials. It accepts standard straight-shank toolholders sized for a 6 mm shank diameter and is compatible with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and milling machines equipped for coolant-through delivery.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or unloading the tool from the holder. Confirm the collet or chuck is properly sized for the 6 mm straight shank and that coolant-through lines are connected and primed before initiating a drilling cycle. Follow the machine manufacturer and applicable shop safety guidelines for carbide tooling handling and speeds and feeds selection.
