The OSG HP253-3701 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 9.4 mm diameter, 140-degree split point, and right-hand cutting direction, this bit delivers clean entry with reduced thrust force and minimal walking on contact. The coated finish extends tool life in abrasive materials. At 89 mm overall length with a 47 mm flute length, the screw machine geometry keeps the tool rigid and reduces deflection in short-hole applications. Machinists and tool room technicians working on production runs rely on this type of bit for consistent, repeatable hole quality.
This drill bit is designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine operations where tight tolerances and controlled chip evacuation are required. Primary target materials include steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web with R-thinning make it well suited for short, accurate holes in ferrous workpieces. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed, high-feed machining strategies where heat management is critical to hole quality and tool longevity.
Designed for use with steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces in screw machine and CNC drilling operations. Shank diameter is 10 mm, compatible with standard metric collet systems and drill chucks sized for that shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable safety procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet or drill chuck and verify runout before engaging the workpiece. Enabling coolant-through flow before spindle engagement is recommended to prime the coolant path and prevent thermal shock at the cutting edge. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the target material.
