The OSG HP245-4528 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built from solid carbide, this bit delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required when drilling hardened steels, cast iron, stainless, and other difficult-to-machine materials. The 140-degree split-point geometry reduces thrust force and improves self-centering at entry. An R-thinned web further lowers cutting resistance at the chisel edge. At 11.50 mm (0.4528 inches) in diameter with a 71.00 mm flute length and 118.00 mm overall length, it fits standard jobber-length applications across CNC machining centers and drill presses.
This drill bit is suited for production and job-shop environments where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip evacuation in through-hole and moderate-depth blind-hole operations. The 12.00 mm shank diameter fits standard toolholders and drill chucks used in metalworking setups. It does not include coolant-through capability, making it appropriate for external coolant or dry-cutting strategies. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators in manufacturing and fabrication environments are the typical end users.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and toolholders accepting a 12.00 mm shank diameter across CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual drilling equipment used in metalworking and fabrication.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is properly seated and clamped in the holder before operation. Solid carbide tooling is brittle compared to high-speed steel — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed-rate adjustments, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Follow the tooling manufacturer and machine manufacturer recommendations for feed and speed parameters appropriate to the workpiece material.
