The OSG HP245-3543 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and cast iron. It features a 140-degree point angle with R-thinned web geometry for self-centering entry and reduced thrust. The multi-layer EgiAs proprietary coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during extended cutting cycles. At 4.0551 inches overall length with a 2.4016-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and CNC machining centers. The straight shank measures 0.2188 inches in diameter. Intended for use by machinists, toolmakers, and CNC operators in production and maintenance environments.
The HP245-3543 is suited for blind hole, cross-hole, and through-hole drilling applications in steel and cast iron workpieces. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth applications. The regular spiral flute and right-hand cut make it compatible with conventional drill press, lathe, and CNC machining center setups. It is designed for applications where self-centering entry and accurate hole placement are required without a separate center drill operation.
Designed for drilling steel and cast iron workpieces. Compatible with standard straight-shank toolholding systems including drill chucks, ER collet chucks, and hydraulic chucks on drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers. Part of the OSG HP245 series for high-performance ferrous drilling.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder to the recommended gauge-line depth before operation. Solid carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts beyond the tool's rated capacity, or re-chucking at an angle. Always confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the cut.
