The OSG HP245-3346 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. It measures 8.50 mm (0.3346 inch) in diameter with an overall length of 103.00 mm and a flute length of 61.00 mm. The 140-degree split point with R-thinned web geometry promotes self-centering and reduces the thrust force needed to start a hole. A WD1 multi-layer finish improves wear resistance and tool life in demanding ferrous materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 10.00 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks and tool holders. This bit is sold individually and is suited for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and production drilling operators.
The HP245-3346 is built for applications in steel and cast iron where hole accuracy and tool life are the primary concerns. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides chip clearance in deeper blind-hole and cross-hole scenarios without requiring through-coolant capability. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross-hole intersections, and general production drilling in P and K material groups as classified under ISO workpiece material codes. The regular spiral flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it compatible with conventional CNC machining centers and manual drill presses running standard spindle rotation.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces in ISO material groups P and K. Suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines accepting a 10.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with blind hole, cross-hole, and standard through-hole drilling operations in the HP245 series application range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with carbide cutting tool handling. Secure the shank fully in the tool holder or chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to side-loading. Do not use damaged or improperly seated tooling. Follow machine-specific speed and feed guidelines for solid carbide drills in the applicable workpiece material; consult the OSG HP245 series cutting data recommendations for starting parameters.
