The OSG HP245-2638 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It features a 6.70 mm (0.2638 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree point angle with R-thinned web geometry, and a WD1 coating that improves wear resistance and tool life in demanding applications. The two-flute, right-hand spiral design promotes efficient chip evacuation in both through-hole and blind-hole operations. At 91.00 mm overall length with a 53.00 mm flute length, this drill fits standard toolholders and CNC machining centers used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
The HP245-2638 is engineered for drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. It is suited for blind hole, cross hole, standard drilling, and self-centering applications. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper penetration while maintaining rigidity. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 8.00 mm in diameter, fitting ER collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders commonly used on CNC machining centers and drill presses in production environments where tight tolerances and repeatable results are required.
The HP245-2638 belongs to the OSG HP245 series and is compatible with workpiece materials coded P and K, corresponding to steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. It fits 8.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank toolholders including ER collet chucks and hydraulic chucks used on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Secure the 8.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized, clean collet chuck or hydraulic holder to the manufacturer-recommended clamping depth before use. Ensure the spindle and coolant supply are off before tool changes. Coolant-through is not supported on this drill; external coolant or mist lubrication should be applied at the cutting zone when drilling steel or cast iron to manage chip evacuation and heat.
