The OSG HP245-2362 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. It carries a 6 mm diameter with a 140-degree drill point angle and an R-thinned web for improved self-centering and reduced thrust. The WD1 coating improves wear resistance and extends tool life in demanding ferrous materials. At 82 mm overall length with a 44 mm flute length, this bit delivers a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited to productive jobber-length applications. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and precision fabricators working on CNC and manual drilling setups.
This drill bit targets blind hole, cross hole, and standard through-hole drilling operations in steel and cast iron workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. The regular spiral with right-hand cut makes it compatible with conventional CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power drills where carbide tooling is appropriate. Its high-performance classification places it in production and precision shop environments where consistent hole quality and tight tolerances are required.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces; primary workpiece material codes P and K. Suitable for blind hole, cross hole, drilling, and self-centering operations. Part of the OSG HP245 series covering the 6.00 to 7.00 mm diameter range.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC operators in machine shop environments. Verify that the drill chuck or collet is rated for carbide tooling and that runout is minimized before engaging the workpiece, as solid carbide is brittle and sensitive to side loading. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before starting the cut. No coolant-through capability is present on this bit, so external coolant or minimum quantity lubrication should be applied when cutting conditions require it.
