The OSG HP245-2126 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It features a 5.40 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree split-point geometry with R-thinning for self-centering entry, and an EgiAs coating that improves wear resistance and chip evacuation. The 2-flute, regular spiral design produces clean, consistent holes in demanding production environments. At 82.00 mm overall length with a 44.00 mm flute length, it offers a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited for moderate-depth applications. Machinists and tool-room technicians working on CNC machining centers or drill presses are the primary users of this bit.
The HP245-2126 is designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. It handles blind hole and cross-hole applications as well as standard through-drilling, and the R-thinned point promotes self-centering without a pilot hole in many setups. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 6.00 mm diameter seats securely in standard collets and drill chucks. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery, making it best suited for external coolant or air-blast chip clearing. It is a practical choice for general metalworking, toolroom work, and repetitive production drilling in ferrous materials.
Suited for use in steel (material code P) and cast iron (material code K) workpieces per ISO material classification. Compatible with standard ER collet systems and drill chucks accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG HP245 series of high-performance carbide jobber drills.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and collet or chuck are clean and free of runout before seating the shank, as carbide is brittle and susceptible to breakage from lateral loading. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Do not use this bit for hand drilling or in underpowered machines that cannot maintain consistent feed and speed.
