The OSG HP245-2087 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. It measures 5.3 mm in diameter with an overall length of 82 mm and a flute length of 44 mm. The 140-degree point angle and R-thinned web promote self-centering entry and reduce thrust force. WD1 coating extends tool life in abrasive ferrous materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6 mm in diameter, fitting standard drill chucks and collet holders used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose and precision drilling operations in metalworking environments, including production shops, maintenance facilities, and machine shops. Rated tool applications include blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, through drilling, and self-centering starts. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral geometry support consistent chip evacuation in short-to-medium depth holes. It is sold individually.
Designed as a high-performance replacement or production drill in applications requiring 5.3 mm diameter holes in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Part of the OSG HP245 series covering the 5.00 mm to 6.00 mm diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with drill press, CNC, or manual milling equipment. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Power down the spindle completely before changing or inspecting tooling. Cutting parameters should be selected based on workpiece material hardness and machine rigidity — do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended feed and speed ranges for carbide tooling.
