The OSG HP245-1831 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. Built on the HP245 series platform, it features a 4.65 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree split point with R-thinned web geometry, and a WD1 coating that extends tool life in demanding production environments. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 74.00 mm with a 36.00 mm flute length. The two-flute spiral configuration with a regular helix and tapered web promotes chip evacuation and reduces walking on entry. This drill is sized at 0.1831 decimal inches and is well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual operations where precision hole location is required.
The HP245-1831 is designed for drilling into steel, alloy steel, and cast iron — material codes P and K in ISO classification. It handles blind hole, cross hole, and general drilling applications, and the R-thinned point geometry allows self-centering without a pilot hole in many setups. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and carbide substrate make it appropriate for short-to-medium depth holes in both job shop and production environments. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood coolant or mist applied externally is recommended when operating at elevated feed and speed conditions in harder materials.
