The OSG HP245-1417 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. It carries a 3.60 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree R-thinned point for self-centering entry, and a WD1 coating that extends tool life in ferrous materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm in diameter and fits standard drill chucks and toolholders. With a 2-flute spiral configuration and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, this drill evacuates chips efficiently during blind-hole and cross-hole operations. It is sized for precision work, with a diameter tolerance of plus 0.004 to plus 0.016 mm. Machinists and tool-room technicians working on CNC lathes, machining centers, or manual drill presses will find this drill suitable for demanding production environments.
The HP245-1417 is built for drilling steel and cast iron in both blind-hole and through-hole applications. Its R-thinned web reduces thrust force at the point, making it effective for cross-hole drilling and self-centering starts without a center drill. The regular spiral and tapered web configuration support consistent chip flow in short-to-medium depth cuts. This drill is well-suited for job shops, tool rooms, and production cells where tight tolerances and repeatable hole quality in ferrous workpieces are required.
Designed for use in steel (ISO P), alloy steel (ISO P), and cast iron (ISO K) workpieces. Suitable for blind-hole, cross-hole, standard drilling, and self-centering applications. Compatible with any standard drill chuck or toolholder accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-room technician. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a chuck or collet rated for the intended spindle speed before engaging the workpiece. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; apply external coolant or cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material when running at elevated feeds and speeds. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, and replace the drill if edge integrity is compromised.
