The OSG HP245-1024 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It carries a 2.6 mm diameter (0.1024 inch) with a 140-degree R-thinned point that promotes self-centering and reduces thrust on entry. The WD1 coating extends tool life when cutting ferrous materials. At 56 mm overall length with a 22 mm flute length, this bit fits standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld power tools with a 3.0 mm straight-cylindrical shank. The regular spiral, 2-flute geometry provides efficient chip evacuation in blind-hole and cross-hole operations. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users.
The HP245-1024 targets drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron classified under material codes P and K. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports moderate-depth holes in these materials without excessive deflection. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross-hole intersections, through-hole drilling, and self-centering starts where a pilot drill is not used. The R-thinned web and tapered web configuration reduce the dead zone at the tip, making it well suited for close-tolerance production work where consistent entry geometry matters.
