The OSG HP245-0906 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill from the HP245 series, designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. The tool features a 2.30 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree R-thinned point for improved self-centering and reduced thrust, and a WD1 coating that extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. With a regular spiral flute geometry and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, it delivers efficient chip evacuation in short to medium-depth holes. Installed by machinists and toolroom technicians, this drill is suited for precision work in production and job-shop environments.
The HP245-0906 is rated for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron, covering ISO material codes P and K. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, and self-centering entry cuts where point geometry matters. The 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and drill chucks used on CNC machining centers and drill presses. Overall length is 52.00 mm with a 20.00 mm flute length, making it well suited for compact workpiece setups where clearance is limited.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, and cast iron (ISO codes P and K). Compatible with standard straight-bore collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 3.00 mm shank diameter. Coolant-through is not supported; external coolant or flood coolant application is appropriate.
This drill is installed by machinists and CNC operators using a collet chuck or drill chuck sized for the 3.00 mm shank. Secure clamping with minimal runout is critical at this diameter to prevent deflection and premature edge wear. Ensure the spindle and workholding are cleaned and free of chips before tool insertion. Follow machine tool manufacturer recommendations for spindle speed and feed rate based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
