The OSG HP245-0866 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It features a 2.20 mm (0.0866 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree point angle with R-thinned web geometry, and an overall length of 52.00 mm. The WD1 coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during aggressive drilling cycles. With a regular spiral flute, right-hand cutting direction, and straight-cylindrical shank, this bit is built for consistent hole quality in production and maintenance environments. Machinists and toolroom technicians working on precision components will find this drill well-suited to tight-tolerance applications.
This drill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and similar equipment where small-diameter, high-accuracy holes are required. Primary workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, and cast iron (ISO material codes P and K). It supports blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, and self-centering applications. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip evacuation in short-to-moderate depth holes without through-coolant. It is sold individually.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Part of the OSG HP245 series covering the 2.00 mm to 3.00 mm diameter range. Compatible with standard straight-shank toolholders, collet chucks, and drill chucks sized for 3.00 mm shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck before operation to prevent runout that can cause bit breakage at this diameter. Carbide is brittle — avoid lateral loads, interrupted cuts without proper setup, and contact with hard inclusions without confirming material suitability. Ensure spindle runout is within acceptable limits before use, as excessive runout dramatically reduces tool life in sub-3 mm carbide drills.
