The OSG 8672480 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size No. 12, with a decimal diameter of 0.1890 inches (4.80 mm). It features a 140-degree point angle with R-thinned web geometry, a spiral regular-helix flute, and an EgiAs coating for extended tool life in demanding applications. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 82.00 mm with a 44.00 mm flute length. Rated as high-performance tooling, this bit is designed for machinists, tool-and-die workers, and CNC operators working in production environments.
This drill bit is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and self-centering operations in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes without coolant-through capability. It is appropriate for manual drill presses, CNC machining centers, and gang drilling setups in job shops or production facilities. The EgiAs coating and solid carbide substrate make it a reliable choice for high-cycle applications where HSS bits wear prematurely.
Designed for use in applications requiring a No. 12 wire gauge (0.1890 inch / 4.80 mm) drill diameter. Primary workpiece materials are steel, alloy steel, and cast iron (material codes P, K, and H). Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and ER collet systems accepting a 6.00 mm shank. Part of the OSG Series 6310 high-performance carbide drill family.
This bit should be installed and removed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Use a calibrated chuck or collet holder sized for a 6.00 mm straight shank to ensure concentricity and prevent runout. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material, as solid carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading.
