The OSG 3056304 is a 2-flute solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-precision finishing operations in hard materials and steels. The mill carries a 3.00 mm (0.1181 inch) cutting diameter with a 1.50 mm nose radius and a DUROREY PVD coating applied to the carbide substrate. The extended-reach long-neck geometry — featuring a 2.85 mm neck diameter and a 9.50 mm neck length — allows the tool to reach deep into cavities and pockets without pulling the shank into the cut. A 30-degree medium helix angle supports chip evacuation and surface finish in demanding materials classified under hard material (H) and steel (P) workpiece categories.
This end mill is designed for finishing and light roughing passes in hardened steels and other hard-material applications where dimensional precision is critical. The single-end configuration, right-hand cutting direction, and right-hand helical flute geometry make it compatible with standard vertical and horizontal machining centers. The extended reach and small cutting diameter suit it for die and mold work, micro-pocket milling, and detailed contouring where clearance between the tool shank and workpiece walls is limited. It is sold individually and is intended for professional CNC machining environments.
Designed as a direct-use tool for CNC machining centers accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are hard materials (H) and steel (P) per OSG Series 8590 classification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians with the machine in a powered-down, locked-out state. The straight-cylindrical shank requires a correctly sized collet or shrink-fit holder torqued to the machine manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the tool shank and holder bore for contamination before seating. Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended cutting parameters for the target workpiece hardness and coating designation.
