The OSG 215-2900 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-precision hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 215 specifications, it features a 135-degree split point, a slow spiral flute geometry, and a bright uncoated finish. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collets. At 0.29 inches (letter size L, 7.37 mm) in diameter, this bit delivers clean entry and accurate hole sizing across a wide range of workpiece materials. Web thinning reduces thrust requirements and improves chip evacuation in harder materials.
This drill bit is suited for production and job-shop environments where consistent hole quality in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum silicate, nickel alloy, titanium, and titanium alloy is required. The screw machine length format provides a shorter, more rigid profile compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools where rigidity and runout control are critical. It is sold individually and is a direct-replacement, single-use tooling item.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collets accepting 0.29-inch diameter tooling. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum silicate, nickel alloy, titanium, and titanium alloy.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully de-energized and the spindle at a complete stop. Secure the shank fully within the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth before tightening. Solid carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts at excessive feed rates, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Follow applicable ANSI B11 machine safety standards and the equipment manufacturer's tooling guidelines when setting spindle speeds and feed rates.
