The OSG 15081005 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit in wire size 46 (0.0810 inch / 2.06 mm diameter), finished with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating for extended tool life in demanding applications. The bit features a 130-degree split point, a regular spiral flute with X-thinned web geometry for reduced thrust and improved chip evacuation, and a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 1/8 inch in diameter. Overall length is 2-3/8 inches with a flute length of 1-1/8 inches. It is engineered for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel, and belongs to the OSG Series 1500 product line. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals install this bit in standard drill presses, CNC machines, and hand drills.
This bit is suited for ferrous metal applications including carbon steel, alloy steel, and similar P-group workpiece materials. Its 130-degree point angle and X-thinned web make it well-suited for blind hole drilling, cross-hole operations, through-hole drilling, and self-centering starts without a center punch in many setups. The TiN coating improves surface hardness and reduces friction during the cut, extending tool life compared to uncoated high-speed steel alternatives. Typical applications include precision machining shops, maintenance and repair operations, and production environments where small-diameter hole accuracy is required.
Designed for use in standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand drills accepting a 1/8-inch straight shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel and alloy steel (P-group). Coolant-through operation is not supported on this bit.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with small-diameter drill bit handling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before operation to prevent bit breakage at this small diameter. Reduce feed pressure when drilling hard alloy steels to avoid tip fracture. Follow applicable workplace safety standards for rotating tool operation, including eye protection and secure workpiece fixturing.
