The OSG 1069302 is a straight flute tap designed for threading 10-32 UNF holes in production and maintenance applications. Built from high-speed steel, this plug chamfer tap features 2 flutes and a 3B class of fit with an H2 thread limit, producing threads suitable for standard fastener assemblies. The plug chamfer style distributes cutting load across several leading threads, making it well suited for through-hole tapping. With an overall length of 2.375 inches and a thread length of 0.875 inches, it fits standard tap holders and is sized for hand or machine tapping operations across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This tap is used in machine shop, maintenance, and field repair applications where 10-32 UNF threads are required. It performs in through-hole and open-ended blind-hole conditions where chip evacuation is not restricted. Rated material applications include aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel, covering a broad range of typical workpiece materials encountered in industrial and mechanical service work. It is appropriate for both CNC tapping centers and manual tap handles at standard cutting speeds for HSS tooling.
Designed for use in standard tap holders, tapping heads, and collet chucks accepting straight-shank taps sized for 10-32 UNF tooling. Compatible material applications per manufacturer specifications include aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel.
Tapping should be performed by a machinist or qualified technician using properly sized tap holders with appropriate alignment to prevent tap breakage. Ensure the correct drill size for a 10-32 UNF tap is used before threading the hole. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tap life and improve thread quality. Never force a tap against resistance; back off periodically to break chips when working in deeper holes.
