The NICHOLSON T37954 is a Swiss-pattern needle file designed for precision material removal in tight tolerances and fine finishing work. With a triangular three-square profile and a Cut 2 smooth-medium tooth grade, it removes material cleanly while leaving a refined surface finish. The overall length is 6.25 inches, with a 3-inch length of cut and a cross-section measuring 0.16 inches wide by 0.16 inches thick. The file terminates in a tang, requiring a separate handle. It is suited for machinists, toolmakers, jewelers, and precision tradespeople working with metal, plastic, or composite materials.
This file is used in bench work, die and mold finishing, deburring, and precision fitting operations. The three-square triangular shape accesses 60-degree internal angles, notches, and grooves that flat or round files cannot reach. It is appropriate for light stock removal and final filing passes in close-tolerance applications across light manufacturing, toolroom, and general trade environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard bench-stock needle file suitable for precision filing applications across metalworking, toolroom, and light fabrication trades.
Install a properly sized file handle onto the tang before use to prevent hand injury. Files should be used with controlled, forward-stroke pressure appropriate to the workpiece material. Secure the workpiece in a vise or fixture before filing. Do not use this file on hardened steel or materials beyond its rated hardness range, and never strike a file with a hammer or use it as a pry tool.
