The NIBCO PRESRED2112 is a copper press-fit reducing coupling designed for joining two different pipe sizes in a pressurized water or hydronic piping system. The fitting connects a 2-inch press end to a 1.5-inch press end without soldering, using a press tool to create a permanent, leak-tight joint. Plumbers and pipefitters install this coupling during new construction or retrofit work where a pipe run transitions from a larger diameter to a smaller diameter. The press connection method eliminates open flame, making it suitable for installations near finished materials or in fire-sensitive environments.
This reducing coupling is intended for residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic heating applications. It is used wherever a copper pipe run must step down from 2 inches to 1.5 inches, such as at branch takeoffs, manifold connections, or equipment tie-ins. The press-by-press configuration means both ends accept press-fit connections, keeping the installation consistent throughout the system.
Designed as an OEM-style press-fit reducing coupling for use with standard copper tubing in residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic piping systems.
Installation requires a compatible press tool with the correct jaw size for each end diameter. Licensed plumbers should shut off and depressurize the water supply and drain the line before installation. Verify that pipe ends are clean, deburred, and fully inserted to the pipe stop before pressing. All work should comply with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for copper press fittings.
