The NIBCO CC08650 is a 2-inch Schedule 80 polypropylene socket union designed for joining and disconnecting plastic piping systems without cutting pipe. It features a slip socket inlet and a solvent-rated female iron pipe thread (SR FIPT) outlet, allowing it to bridge threaded and slip connections in a single fitting. Molded from black polypropylene, this union provides resistance to a wide range of chemicals, making it a practical choice for industrial, commercial, and process piping applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting where future disassembly of a plastic line is required.
The CC08650 is suited for Schedule 80 plastic piping systems handling corrosive fluids, wastewater, or chemical process lines in commercial and light industrial settings. The union design allows a technician to break the line at a fixed point for equipment service, valve replacement, or system modification without disturbing adjacent pipe runs. Its black polypropylene construction is compatible with systems where PVC or CPVC fittings would not hold up chemically.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 plastic piping systems using 2-inch slip and female iron pipe thread connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or industrial pipefitters following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off flow and depressurize the line completely before disassembling or installing the union. The slip end is joined using the appropriate solvent cement rated for polypropylene; do not use PVC or CPVC cement, as it is not compatible with polypropylene. Hand-tighten the union nut first, then snug with a strap wrench — do not use metal pipe wrenches directly on the plastic union body.
