The MUELLER STREAMLINE b34238 is a four-bolt CHECKMASTER check valve designed for refrigerant line service in commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems. It accepts a 1 5/8-inch connection size and carries a maximum allowable pressure (MAP) of 700 psi, making it suitable for high-pressure refrigerant circuits. The valve ships with a standard spring installed and has a flow coefficient (Cv) of 21.9. It opens at less than 0.07 psi differential, allowing flow to pass with minimal restriction while preventing reverse flow. Licensed HVAC and refrigeration technicians are the primary installers of this component.
This check valve is used in commercial refrigeration and large-tonnage HVAC systems where backflow prevention is required in the refrigerant circuit. The four-bolt flanged body provides a secure, leak-resistant connection at the joint. Its wide operating temperature range, from -40 degrees F to 300 degrees F, suits it for both low-temperature refrigeration and high-temperature discharge line applications. Optional replacement springs and gaskets are available separately for field servicing of the valve body.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation four-bolt check valve for commercial refrigeration and HVAC refrigerant piping systems. Replacement kit A 17987, 10 lb spring P 35657, 20 lb spring P 36305, and gasket P 35691 are listed compatible service components for this valve.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC or refrigeration technician in accordance with applicable mechanical codes and refrigerant handling regulations. Recover all refrigerant and confirm the system is fully depressurized before opening any refrigerant circuit connection. Torque the four flange bolts to the recommended range of 10 to 20 ft-lb using a calibrated torque wrench, tightening in a cross pattern to ensure even seating of the gasket. Verify flow direction arrow on the valve body aligns with intended refrigerant flow before final assembly.
