The METRAFLEX mlugfm80250 is a Fireloop seismic expansion joint designed for fire sprinkler piping systems. It absorbs movement in all directions, making it suitable for seismic events, thermal expansion, and building settlement. The flexible loop design uses a 180-degree return bend that requires only a single hanger support, allowing the entire joint to move freely without stressing adjacent pipe. Licensed HVAC and fire protection contractors install this fitting wherever pipe or building movement is anticipated. The unit is UL listed and FM Approved, and it meets NFPA 13 guidelines for fire sprinkler system installation.
The mlugfm80250 is applied in fire sprinkler systems in both commercial and residential structures wherever seismic or thermal pipe movement must be managed. Typical installation locations include a building seismic joint, riser transitions, and any run where thermal growth or differential settlement could otherwise stress rigid pipe connections. The joint can be oriented vertically or horizontally, giving installers flexibility in layout. It is manufactured and distributed through the Metraflex Fire Protection Division.
Designed as an OEM-style seismic expansion joint replacement for fire sprinkler piping systems requiring NFPA 13 compliant seismic protection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed fire protection contractor familiar with NFPA 13 requirements. Depressurize and isolate the affected sprinkler system zone before cutting into any live pipe. Position the FireLoop at the building seismic joint or any location where relative pipe movement is expected, and secure using a single hanger support at the 180-degree return bend to allow free movement. Do not rigidly restrain both ends of the loop or otherwise restrict the joint's range of motion after installation.
