The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834166240 is a non-woven quick-change abrasive disc designed for surface preparation and finishing work on metal and composite materials. Measuring 3/4 inches in diameter, it uses aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a flexible polyester and nylon web backing. The disc is rated at 40,000 RPM and carries a Very Fine grade with a 150 grit designation. It is part of the Merit Surface Prep series and attaches via the TR Type III quick-change system, which is compatible with Type R tooling. Machinists, fabricators, and metal finishing technicians install this disc on die grinders and inline grinders for precision surface work.
This disc is suited for surface conditioning, blending, and finishing on a range of metals including 300 and 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, super alloys, and titanium. It also performs on fiberglass and composite materials. Typical use cases include weld blending, pre-weld prep, and surface conditioning before coating or inspection. The small 3/4-inch diameter makes it effective in tight clearances and confined weld joints where larger discs cannot reach.
Compatible with die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders using TR Type III or Type R quick-change arbor systems. Rated for use on 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, fiberglass and composites, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, super alloys, titanium, and tool steels.
Installation is performed by metalworkers and fabricators using TR or Type R quick-change mandrels. Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 40,000 RPM disc rating before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and do not use damaged or deformed discs. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable ANSI B11 and shop safety guidelines when operating abrasive tooling.
