The LEVITON TELCOM T5837-T is a 20-amp tamper-resistant duplex receptacle with an integrated USB Type-C charging port. Designed for both residential and light commercial wiring applications, it provides a standard 20A outlet alongside a USB Type-C port for direct device charging without an adapter block. The tamper-resistant shutter mechanism meets NEC child-safety requirements for receptacles in dwelling units and other protected spaces. Licensed electricians are the primary installer for this device in new construction, renovation, and retrofit projects.
This receptacle is suited for installation in bedrooms, kitchens, offices, hotel rooms, and other areas where USB-C device charging is in high demand. The built-in USB Type-C port eliminates the need for wall-adapter chargers, freeing both outlet positions for standard plug loads when needed. Its 20A rating accommodates branch circuits wired with 12 AWG conductors on 20A breakers, making it compatible with kitchen, bathroom, and general-purpose circuits where higher ampacity is required.
Designed as an OEM-style wiring device replacement for standard single-gang electrical boxes requiring a 20A tamper-resistant receptacle with USB Type-C charging capability.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. Always turn off the branch circuit breaker and verify the circuit is de-energized with a non-contact voltage tester before wiring. The 20A receptacle requires a 20A-rated circuit with 12 AWG minimum conductors. Do not install on a 15A-only circuit or attempt to use this device as a pass-through USB charging hub beyond its rated output.
