The LEVITON TELCOM M8200-IGR is a 5-15R configuration locking isolated ground receptacle finished in red. Isolated ground receptacles are used where sensitive electronic equipment requires a clean, noise-free ground path separate from the equipment grounding conductor of the branch circuit. The isolated ground design reduces electrical noise and interference at the receptacle outlet, making it a preferred choice for data, telecom, and AV equipment installations. The red color identifies the outlet as an isolated ground circuit, a common field convention that allows technicians to quickly distinguish these circuits from standard receptacles. Installation is performed by licensed electricians.
This receptacle is suited for commercial and light industrial environments where power quality is critical. The 5-15R rating supports standard 15-amp, 125-volt two-pole, three-wire grounding circuits. Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) requirements for isolated ground receptacles, including proper separation of the isolated ground conductor from the equipment grounding system back to the panel. Shut off and lock out the branch circuit breaker before wiring the receptacle. Verify that the isolated ground conductor is run continuously to the panel or isolated ground bus without interruption through intermediate junction boxes.
