The LEVITON TELCOM M5362-SGT is a duplex tamper-resistant electrical receptacle rated for 20 amps at 125 volts. Tamper-resistant receptacles include internal shutters that block access to the contacts unless equal pressure is applied to both slots simultaneously, reducing the risk of accidental contact. This device is designed for installation in standard duplex outlet locations in residential and light commercial wiring applications. Licensed electricians install this type of receptacle as part of new construction, renovation, or code-compliance upgrades where tamper-resistant protection is required by the National Electrical Code.
This receptacle is suited for use in residential settings including bedrooms, hallways, and common areas where the NEC mandates tamper-resistant protection. It is also appropriate for light commercial spaces such as offices, waiting rooms, and healthcare facilities where personnel safety standards require additional protection at outlet locations. The 20-amp rating supports circuits with higher load demands compared to standard 15-amp receptacles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation duplex receptacle for standard 20-amp, 125-volt branch circuits in residential and light commercial electrical systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code and applicable local codes. Always shut off power at the circuit breaker and verify the circuit is de-energized with a non-contact voltage tester before wiring. A 20-amp receptacle requires a 20-amp rated circuit and appropriately sized conductors. Do not install on a 15-amp circuit where load requirements exceed circuit capacity.
