The Larsen Supply Co. 219544 is a Teflon string valve stem packing designed to seal valve stems in plumbing service and repair applications. Supplied as a flexible Teflon cord measuring 3/32 inch in diameter by 24 inches in length, this packing material compresses around the valve stem to prevent leaks at the packing gland. It is packaged on a card and sold in units of one card. Plumbers and pipe fitters use this type of packing when repacking older globe valves, gate valves, and similar valves where the original packing has dried out, shrunk, or begun to leak.

This Teflon string packing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing maintenance. It is commonly used when servicing shutoff valves, stop valves, and other stem-type valves found in water distribution systems. Teflon packing material is compatible with water service and is a standard choice when replacing worn or compressed fiber packing in older valve designs.

Installation Notes

Shut off water supply and relieve line pressure before removing the packing nut or gland on any valve. Do not overtighten the packing nut, as this can restrict stem movement or damage the packing material.
