The KURT DBKIT-R8V is a milling machine drawbar designed for securing toolholders in the spindle of a vertical milling machine. It features a 7/16-20 thread size and a 2.125-inch thread length, providing the mechanical engagement needed to lock R8-style toolholders firmly during cutting operations. Machinists and machine tool technicians install this drawbar as a direct replacement when the original component shows wear, thread damage, or is missing from a used machine acquisition. It is compatible with R8 and variable-speed spindle configurations.
This drawbar fits milling machines equipped with an R8 spindle taper, one of the most common spindle standards found in knee mills and variable-speed Bridgeport-style machines in job shops, vocational training facilities, and general manufacturing environments. It is intended for machines where the drawbar is tightened manually or with a wrench from the top of the spindle to secure the toolholder before milling operations begin.
Compatible with R8 spindle and variable-speed milling machine configurations as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or machine tool technician. Before replacing the drawbar, power down the milling machine and lock out the spindle drive per standard lockout/tagout procedures. The drawbar is inserted through the top of the spindle quill and threaded into the toolholder by hand before final tightening with a wrench. Do not overtighten, as excessive torque can damage the toolholder taper or spindle threads.
