The KENNAMETAL 7096733 is a carbide grooving insert designed for precision groove turning and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the A4G insert style in size code 3, it delivers a cutting width of 0.1180 inches (3.000 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.1150 inches (2.90 mm). The insert is finished with an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process, providing thermal resistance and wear protection in demanding cutting conditions. Machining shops and tool-room technicians working with steel, stainless, and similar materials rely on this grade for consistent groove geometry and extended tool life.
This insert fits the KENNAMETAL A4 series toolholding system and is suited for external grooving operations on production turning equipment. Its neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across a range of setup configurations. The double-end design provides two cutting edges per insert, improving cost-per-cut economics in high-volume machining environments. The GUP chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during grooving passes.
Designed for use with KENNAMETAL A4 series grooving toolholders that accept size 3 inserts with clamp-style holding. Confirm toolholder insert seat size and clamping method before installation.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the correct clamp and torque the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can affect insert seating and groove accuracy. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut for this insert.
