The KENNAMETAL 7096383 is a CDHH-style carbide boring insert designed for internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Manufactured in grade KCU10B with an AlTiN coating, this insert is engineered for wear resistance and thermal stability under demanding cutting conditions. The diamond-shaped insert body carries an 80-degree included angle, a 15-degree relief angle, and a corner radius of 0.015 inches (0.38 mm). Four cutting edges are available per insert, extending tool life and reducing per-edge cost. Left-hand orientation determines toolholder compatibility and must be confirmed before ordering.
This insert is suited for boring and internal profiling applications in medium to finish machining ranges. The KCU10B carbide grade with AlTiN coating performs in ferrous and hardened materials where heat and abrasion resistance are priorities. The H chipbreaker geometry is designed to control chips in finish and semi-finish cuts, making this insert appropriate for precision bore work in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers will find this insert applicable across a range of bore diameters where CDHH geometry holders are in use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CDHH-style boring toolholders accepting size code 12061 inserts in left-hand orientation. Verify toolholder insert pocket geometry and hand designation before installation.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping procedure. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the insert clamp to the toolholder specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert to prevent insert rocking or premature edge failure.
