The KENNAMETAL 7096291 is a carbide profiling insert designed for precision turning and profiling operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to ISO code KCGR110308R08 in grade KCU10B, this insert features an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process, providing high heat resistance and wear performance in demanding cutting conditions. The NPGR insert style measures 0.125 inches thick with a 0.80 mm corner radius and a maximum depth of cut of 0.125 inches. With an included angle of 11 degrees and a relief angle of 8 degrees, the insert geometry is optimized for contour profiling and finishing passes. Two cutting edges per insert are available for right-hand applications.
This insert is suited for profiling and finishing operations on lathes in both production and job-shop environments. The clamp-style insert holding method provides secure seating during high-precision cuts. The KCU10B grade with AlTiN PVD coating is appropriate for machining steels and stainless steels where tool life and surface finish consistency are priorities. Machinists and tooling technicians working on contour turning, threading relief, or form profiling applications will find this insert fits standard clamp-style toolholders accepting NPGR geometry inserts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement profiling insert for right-hand clamp-style toolholders accepting NPGR geometry at insert size code 52. Verify toolholder seat geometry and pocket dimensions against ISO code KCGR110308R08 before installation.
This insert is installed by licensed machinists or tooling technicians using appropriate insert clamp hardware matched to the toolholder design. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and repeatable edge positioning. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamp screw.
