The KENNAMETAL 7093873 is a DPGT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. This insert features a diamond shape with a 55-degree included angle, a 0.0157-inch (0.40 mm) corner radius, and an 11-degree relief angle. The KCU10B grade substrate is coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), providing thermal resistance and wear performance in demanding cutting applications. With four usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, this insert delivers consistent material removal rates in both roughing and finishing passes.
This insert is suited for turning operations on steel, stainless steel, and similar ferrous materials in light to moderate chip-load applications. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts requiring tight tolerances and smooth surface finishes. It is typically used by CNC machinists and lathe operators in production and job-shop environments where tool life consistency and edge repeatability are critical. The 5/32-inch thickness and DPGT designation make it compatible with standard DPGT toolholders requiring this insert geometry.
