The KENNAMETAL 7093812 is a CPGT-style turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This diamond-shaped (80-degree included angle) carbide insert features an AlTiN coating and is manufactured under the KCU10B grade designation, making it suited for finishing and light-to-moderate material removal where tight tolerances and surface finish quality matter. The 11-degree relief angle (Clearance Code P) reduces rubbing against the workpiece. With a corner radius of 0.40 mm (1/64 inch) and a neutral hand orientation, it is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for turning applications where a sharp, precise corner radius and controlled chip formation are required. The LF chip breaker geometry supports light finishing cuts with consistent chip control. It suits materials and cut depths consistent with carbide-grade KCU10B tooling. The neutral hand configuration allows use in right- or left-hand tool holders following CPGT insert seating standards. Machinists in aerospace, automotive, and general precision machining shops will find this insert applicable to bore finishing, shoulder turning, and contour operations.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement insert for tool holders accepting CPGT-style inserts with a 2-cutting-edge, diamond-shaped carbide body conforming to the CPGT insert geometry standard.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before insert replacement. Use the appropriate insert clamp screw torque as specified by the tool holder manufacturer — do not over-torque, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamping force. Verify insert seating and clamp contact are correct before resuming cutting operations. Dispose of used inserts per applicable shop safety and waste protocols for carbide tooling.
